Electricity: Investments increased 11-fold and we spent 515 billion pounds on projects

   

The government has spent 515 billion pounds on the electricity sector since 2014 with the aim of developing and increasing the efficiency and capacity of the national electricity grid, in order to attract investments in Egypt and create an economic recovery that will benefit the citizen. Dr. Ayman Hamza, a spokesman for the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, revealed that the volume of investments in the electricity sector whether production, transmission or distribution since 2014 until the end of the development plan represents 11 times the investments made over the previous 12 years. The total investments of the electricity sector will reach 515 billion pounds Hamza explained, in exclusive statements to "the seventh day" that the total investment of the electricity sector will reach 515 billion pounds with the end of the development plan, pointing out that this amount without the cost of the nuclear plant in Dabaa. Hamza added that since the end of 2014 until the end of 2018 has been the development and construction of 26 power plants comprising 114 units with a total capacity of 26 thousand megawatts, which is 12 times the capacity of the High Dam, pointing out that the total investment in electricity production amounted to 287 billion. On future projects being implemented, Hamza said that the Hamraween power plant with a capacity of 6,000 MW is being constructed at a cost of 4 billion 400 million dollars, in addition to the Oyoun Moussa plant with a capacity of 2640 MW with Boo system.
